In order to increase the preparedness of our community, MIT Emergency Management collaborates with MIT EMS to offer trainings to individuals and departments in how to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and apply First Aid. In fact, MIT is “HeartSafe Campus”, meaning we encourage and promote community awareness of the potential for saving the lives of sudden cardiac arrest victims through the use CPR and increased public access to defibrillation. MIT EMS’s HeartSafe Officers are dedicated to improving overall knowledge of CPR and AED usage skills and promoting all interests regarding cardiac health and stroke awareness on- and off-campus.
